The types of carpets that we encounter with different examples from Central Asia to today and are considered important needs in the history of humanity are divided into two categories: handmade carpets and machine-made carpets. The hand-woven technique, which is one of the oldest weaving techniques and was produced by migratory communities. It was preferred in the cold geographical conditions of the past for more practical reasons. It is still in demand today because it reflects the traces of history and has superior durability. Although the production process of handmade carpets has adapted to the changes that time has brought, they are basically produced by tying threads together. For this reason, the quality of the product obtained is parallel to the quality of the type of thread. Therefore, handmade carpets, which require a lot of effort and are very durable, always cost more than machine-made carpets.

How to recognize a handmade carpet?

A large number of handmade carpets can be seen in the market. However, it is a matter of curiosity how to know that the product is truly hand-woven. The easiest way to tell if a carpet is handmade is to look at the back of the product. The fact that the front of a handmade carpet is tied with repeated knots back to back indicates that the carpet was made by a master. Although this situation seems to be the same in a machine-made carpet, there is actually a slight difference. When the back of a machine-made carpet is turned over, there are no knots and the images are composed of symmetrical shapes. In a handmade carpet, no matter how meticulously worked, asymmetry is evident. It is also possible that the patterns have an asymmetrical pattern and have different color variations due to the root color used.

Hand-knotted carpets are undoubtedly the best choice for those who love nature and want to experience nostalgia in their home or office. Find a perfect harmony with the rustic decoration style, where comfort is highlighted.
